Life is Strange [SPOILER]

Beitragvon Anubiswaechter » Fr 8. Sep 2017, 18:45

The thing is, correlation is not the same as causation. Max first had the nightmare of the Storm before seeing Chloe, before knowing of rewind powers, before everything. This would mean then that the Storm is not caused by her time travel, and may even suggest her abilities were caused by the Storm. You can see this in Episode Five. Max goes back in time, turns in her photograph, reports Jefferson, and wins the Everyday Hero contest. Then nine days after the Storm was meant to hit? It hits anyway. There is the Storm, Chloe dies, and Max goes back and destroys her Everyday Hero contest picture to make sure that never happens. Nor does Chloe's death stop the Storm. Jefferson shoots Chloe and a day later the Storm hits. So the Storm is not retribution for Chloe being alive. Instead, it is going to hit no matter what. So what happens in the Sacrifice Chloe ending? Some time after the funeral, the Tornado strikes and wipes out Arcadia Bay. In one moment before she would die, Max is thrown back in time without a picture or anything else like that... but the strain is so great that the memory of everything that happens is wiped from her head. She just remembers one thing: the Storm. If you Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, if you accept that you cannot save everyone and that by just saving one person... you have done something good? Then Max is in a place of safety. She escapes a time loop caused by a hero complex that was honestly falling apart anyway (and if you listen to Max and consider her mindset, she would not willingly sacrifice Chloe. Chloe is her number one priority, the person most important to her.) And then, having accepted that bad things sometimes happen and you need to move on? Then Max and her best friend moves on, leaving the devastation behind. So, what happens if Max never had her powers? When the Storm hits, she dies along with all of Arcadia Bay. And the Storm will hit anyway. It might not happen on October 11. It might wait until the 20th like when Max won the Everyday Hero contest. But it will happen.
